Links and Google…can you buy em?

If you’ve been paying attention to Google’s attitude to paid links this is very interesting.

Webmasters are free to do whatever they please with their Web sites and Google is free to do whatever it wishes with its index.

here is an important statement:

Do notice it explicitly states “Link to me and I’ll link to you” is Reciprocal Linking an activity that Google considers a “Link Scheme” that has a likelihood of getting you BANNED!

It will be interesting to see how this is enforced and what the web community comes up with to “get around” this.

  1. “Do notice it explicitly states “Link to me and I’ll link to you” is Reciprocal Linking an activity that Google considers a “Link Scheme” that has a likelihood of getting you BANNED!”

this is wrong.. it states to avoid EXCESSIVE reciprocal linking.

If you read between the lines, Google is telling us to avoid FULL DUPLEX reciprocal linking where you obtain links in high volume without editorial discretion. Avoid fully automated linking schemes and instead use editor based software where you maintain full control over who you will and will not link to. We use linksmanager in this manner with great success.
