Gotta love image alt tag stuffing. How did this ever sound like a good idea to these cheaters?
And if you take the time to read some of the text, they not only stuff every sentence with keywords but it’s impossible to read through without taking a knife to your wrist. How can you put up crap like that and be happy? I hope these guys are raking in the dough because that’s the only way you could possibly justify crap like that.

Are Image Alt tags even that effective to begin with, as far as search engines are concerned?

The rule is “every little bit helps”. And yes the image alt tag helps.
Is it #1 on the list? No. But, depending on your website (how it’s set up, readable text, etc)…you may have to rely on image alt tags to boost your rankings

Interesting. You should do a post that ranks all the different tags and such like this that, in your experience, mean the most. You’d at least get lots of hot opinions on it.
